Schoolchildren will teach Mumbaiites about the perils of crossing railway tracks. The Western Railway (WR) has started visiting schools to impart knowledge about ‘trespassing’ (crossing railway tracks) to schoolchildren — their new ambassadors against trespassing.
The drive was launched at DAV Public School, Malad where WR officials held lectures for 450 class V to VII students. It will be eventually taken to other schools.
“We explained the meaning and dangers of trespassing to the students. We told them that their parents cross tracks instead of using the railway bridge or subway when in a hurry,” said WR Traffic Inspector Ajay Solanki. “The students should also talk to their parents and acquaintances and discourage them from trespassing.”
Central Railway (CR) too is conducting similar drives. Railway Protection Force officials also conducted similar drive at different stations.
