Priyamdu, alias Gugu, hung herself in her house in Dwarka, southwest Delhi, on Tuesday after results of the Class 12 Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) exam were announced.

According to police, the 17-year-old was rushed to the Ayushmaan Bhuva hospital by her family where she was declared dead.

"Initially, the family did not want to inform the police fearing that the incident would bring a bad name to the family. The hospital authorities informed us about the death," said SK Tomar, assistant commissioner of police.

This is the sixth incident in the last three months of a Class 12 student in Delhi committing suicide.

On Tuesday, two students in Tamil Nadu committed suicide after failing in the state board examinations.
