Coca-Cola has launched a consumer trial of Vio, an energy soft drink that combines skimmed milk with a carbonated fruit soda. Vio is available only in New York as Coke measures demand for the beverage.

Since milk-based soft drinks are popular in Asia but have yet to find a foothold in American or European markets. Vio’s chances of doing so seem dim—early reviews on BevNET.com found that the Very Berry flavour, for example, “tastes too candy-like to be enjoyable,” while the peach mango so sugary as to be "almost overwhelming".
