Drug saga: Mumbai link fled?

Mumbai link in drug saga may have fled

Haroon Kazi Sheikh, one of the partners of Velocity, the upmarket night club at Tardeo, has become the crucial link to the drug cartel which has surfaced during the on-going investigations into the Rahul Mahajan case. In fact, the police team from Delhi, led by Station House Officer (SHO) of Connaught Place police station Suresh Kaushik, and two more officers went looking for Haroon at Velocity on Thursday evening.

Though there was no confirmation on whether the team managed to track down.

Haroon, sources close to the latter claimed that he had fled to the United States of America (USA) as soon as he heard of the New Delhi incident last week. Sources said that Haroon was in fact roped into Velocity as one of its partners by the late Vivek Moitra some time back. "Haroon was one of the members of the 'young group' which always accompanied Bibek like his shadow in Mumbai's party circles," sources added.

Haroon, sources claimed, would often flaunt his connections with Vivek in order to get away with several brawls he had with many in the past.

One such brawl was witnessed in a popular city night club at Phoenix Mills compound some time back when Haroon slapped his girlfriend in front of hundreds of crowds.

The club management was scared to interfere since they knew of Haroon's connections.

The said girlfriend, a student from a leading South Mumbai college, is a resident of Cuffe Parade. Sources said that Haroon's ex-girlfriend was a Femina Miss India finalist-turned-television actress/small time model. Haroon's violent behaviour resulted in a break up.

Meanwhile, the Delhi police team, which is in Mumbai to reach at the root of the drug cartel relating to the Rahul Mahajan case, on Thursday contacted several institutions and investigating agencies in the city, including the Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) to get the necessary leads.

The team first went to Sahil Zaroo's alma mater, the St Xavier's college, and enquired about Sahil, one of the arrested accused in the case.

From there, they went to the Colaba and Marine Drive police stations to find details of the 'Shatoosh' shawl case in which Sahil is a wanted accused.
