DS Constructions Limited, a privately held company which has fast emerged as a major builder of national highways, said on Monday it has tied up with Flughafen Munchen GmbH (Munich Airport International), to bid for business in the restructuring and modernisation of airports in the country, with an eye on dozens of small-town airports ready for facelifts.
DSCL will lead the consortium, which has been named 'Indian Gateway Airports', to participate in the bidding for projects identified by the government. It will hold 80 per cent and Munich Airport International, which is owned by
German state authorities, the remaining 20 per cent.
"Munich Airport International will provide expertise in management and operations," ND Mehra, Director, Commercial and Legal, DSCL, told Hindustan Times.
The consortium, in which DSCL will offer infrastructure development and construction, is similar to the one for Bangalore, where construction firm Larsen & Toubro is partnering Germany's Siemens group in a consortium in which Zurich's airport firm will provide management expertise in operations.
If awarded a project, India Gateway Airports will form a special purpose vehicle to undertake the work, Mehra said. Munich Airport International will work out a master plan and also take up related aeronautical and non-aeronautical services, he added.
