An earthquake of light intensity shook Meghalaya's capital Shillong on Sunday.

The tremor, measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale, occurred at 11.42 am (IST). The epicentre of the quake was located at latitude 24.6 degrees North and longitude 94.5 degrees East of India (Manipur) Myanmar border region, about 236 kms away from the southeast of Shillong, Central Seismological Observatory officials told.

There was no report of any loss of life or property, they added.
