EC orders repolling in 22 polling stations in AP

The EC has ordered repolling in 22 polling stations spread over 16 assembly segments in Andhra where first phase of elections was held on April 20, 2004.

The Election Commission has ordered repolling on Thursday in 22 polling stations spread over 16 Assembly segments in Andhra Pradesh where first phase of elections was held on Tuesday.

The re-poll was necessitated following malfunctioning of Electronic Voting Machines in some polling booths and incidents of attacking and destroying EVMs in other places, Additional Chief Electoral Officer Ajay Sawhaney told reporter here on Thursday.

The repoll will be held in five polling stations in Warangal parliamentary constituencies, four in Mahaboobnagar, three each in Nagarkurnool and Bobbili, two each in Siddipet and Bhadrachalam and one each in Khammam, Srikakulam and Parvathipuram Lok Sabha constitunecies, Sawhaney said.
