The incident took place in a crowded housing colony in the impoverished district of Kolfe-Keranyo in the capital.

The City Fire Department and Emergency Service rescued about a dozen injured people.

A fire that erupted when the wall collapsed was extinguished by fire fighters, but caused damage to property estimated at 200,000 birr ($23,100).
