Jyotiraditya Scindia on Friday termed the Congress performance in the just concluded by-elections in the State as positive.
He said besides winning the Sidhi Lok Sabha seat, the party also scored reasonably well in Gwalior reducing the victory margin of the ruling BJP.
With the support of the people Congress would taken over the rein of administration in the next election, Scindia said. He however, stressed unity in the party to achieve the goal.
Talking to reporters here Scindia criticised the State government for doing precious little to redress the farmers’ grievances, including distribution of relief for crop damage by hailstorm.
Scindia condemned the Naxalite strike in Chhattisgarh on Thursday describing it as a cowardice act and called for a peaceful settlement of the problem.
The Congress leader lauded the railway budget for its proposal for the region including electrification of Guna- Bina line, construction of last leg of Guna-Etawa (12 km) line, Amritsar-Indore new train via Shivpuri and Guna, development of Morena as model station, Taj stoppage at Datia, Sachkhand and Habibganj stoppage at Morena.

Expressing serious concern on depleting water table in the country and asked the State government to prepare both long term and short term plan to overcome the crisis. Besides, he said the people need to be made aware about water conservation and preservation.
He recalled his suggestion made in Parliament over drawing non-conventional power from Nepal and Bhutan. He said these countries have geographical advantage of producing non-conventional electricity at a lower cost, which India can procure providing financial support to them to establish new infrastructure there.
Scindia is on a two-day visit to his constituency to visit hailstorm hit villages.
