Election symbols to be allotted on Oct 12
DISTRICT MAGISTRATE Dr Hariom has directed his subordinates to enforce the election code of conduct and make arrangements for peaceful commencement of the local bodies election. He said election symbols for wards and nagar panchayats going to polls in the first phase, would be allotted on October 12 while for the second and third phase of election, symbols would be allotted on October 15 and 18, respectively.

He said election symbols for wards and nagar panchayats going to polls in the first phase, would be allotted on October 12 while for the second and third phase of election, symbols would be allotted on October 15 and 18, respectively.
He clarified that election symbols approved only by State Election Commission would be allotted to the candidates and different colour ballot papers would be used for various seats.
For nagar panchayat and nagar nigam corporators post pink ballot papers would be used while for the mayor’s post the ballot paper would be in blue. Similarly, for nagar palika parishad chairman’s post green ballot paper would be used.
He directed the officials to start the election work as the nomination process would start from October 3 to 6, while nomination papers would be scrutinised on October 9. October 12 would be the last day for withdrawal of nomination papers.
Meanwhile, political parties have also started the search for winning candidates in respective wards.
A meeting of Congress city unit was held here at the city party office under city unit president Chaudhary Irshad Husain. Delivering his views on this occasion, Husain said the name of the candidates would be finalised after discussion with coordinator Jeevan Prakash.
Unit secretary Aslam Parvez said corporation election would set the direction of Assembly election.
Senior party leader Siddharth Priya Srivastav, Rakesh Yadav, S Iqbal, Qamruzzama Ansari, Bhupendra Narain Pathak and many others also delivered their views on this occasion.
