"The announcement of the certification of the results will take place today and the names of the winning candidates will also be announced," commission member Adel al-Lami told AFP. Preliminary results from the January 30 elections were announced on February 13.
According to the figures divulged then, 58 per cent of registered voters went to the polls, the main coalition of Shiite religious parties took 48.1 per cent of the votes, the Kurdish ticket won 25.7 per cent and the list of Prime Minister Iyad Allawi 13.8 per cent.
Lami said the commission had nearly finished examining the 48 complaints that were lodged in the three days after the results were announced.
