Encourage students to achieve the best

STUDENTS SHOULD be encouraged to achieve the very best that lies within them. In this endeavour, a school should spare no effort to harness all the knowledge, expertise and resources that modern western technology had to offer, said principal of DPS RK Puram (New Delhi) Dr Shyama Chona here on Monday.

“At the same time, it is traditional Indian culture, philosophy and moral values that form the solid bedrock upon which the school is firmly rooted. This sublime blending of the best of India and the West would provide any school with its own unique and distinctive identity among the educational institutions of the world”, said Dr Chona, who was here to participate in a function in Delhi Public School on Sunday.

Dr Chona also shared her ideas about education being child- centric and the child being groomed to play the role of a ‘student educator’. Interaction in class, she said, was of utmost importance. Clearly a class was successful and a lesson was well taught when the student asked many questions and then when the queries were satisfied, went on to explain a point to his mates. She said it was important to think about a teacher making his own web-designed lesson on a system and taking it to class on a regular basis.

Principal of DPS Varanasi Pradeep Ghosh welcomed the guests while Ruth Shefali Malhotra introduced Dr Chona to the audience.
