On the verge of finishing your graduation and planning to pursue academics further? Then a postgraduate course from Delhi University may be quite the thing for you.

The fact that DU conducts entrance exams for most courses offered at the postgraduate level should be comforting for those who are not expecting exemplary marks but know they have a yen for their chosen discipline.

Students who have done their graduation from DU and have scored marks above the stipulated limit for their subject, however, don’t have to sit for the test. They can get admission directly.

For the M.A. English course, for instance, if you have 55% marks and have done English Honours from DU, you can directly get on board. The deal is slightly different for those who score less than the stipulated limit and those from other universities in the country.

"The scale of difficulty and marking pattern they are used to differs. A student who gets 55-60% in DU is exemplary. That may not be the case elsewhere,” said S.K. Vij, dean of students’ welfare.

Others feel the entrance exams give category-B students a chance to take up postgraduate courses.
