At least four people were killed on Wednesday in the clashes between Garo tribal and Rava tribal villagers along the Assam-Meghalaya border.

While three Ravas killed in attacks of Garos in areas under Mendipathar police station in East Garohills district of Meghalaya, one Garo tribal of a mob killed in police firing at Kherkata village under Rangjuli police station in Goalapra district.

IG of Assam Police ( Law and Order), Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta said curfew has clamped in areas under four police station in Goalpara district on Wednesday evening.

"One person of a mob was killed in police firing at Kherkata village after the mob tried to attack police," said the IG ( Law and Order).

Meghalaya home minister DHR Lyngdoh said three bodies were recovered from the clash site in East Garohills district of the state on Wednesday.

There were reports of about 40 people were missing in attack on Rava tribal villages in East Garohills district.

Tension continues in Assam-Meghalaya border areas in Kamrup and Goalpara district of the state on Wednesday.

As the tension escalates between Garo tribal and Rava tribal villagers on Wednesday in both Assam and Meghalaya, curfew clamped in areas under four police stations of Krisnai, Dhupdhora, Rongjuli and Dudhnoi in Goalpara district.
