Following is the chronological sequence of events relating to Jessica Lall's murder:

April 30, 1999: Jessica Lall shot dead at Tamarind Court, allegedly by Manu Sharma.

April 1999-February 2006: Nine accused, including Haryana senior Congress leader Vinod Sharma's son Manu Sharma, arrested by Delhi police and put up for trial.

Feb 21, 2006: All nine accused acquitted by Delhi trial court.

Feb 24: Delhi High Court asks for details of case from prosecution following public outcry over perceived miscarriage of justice.

March 13: Delhi Police file appeal against acquittal in Delhi High Court.

April 19: Key witness Shayan Munshi, who turned hostile, questioned by police.

April 22: Jessica Lall's father passes away.

May 4: Former Delhi police officer Amod Kanth too questioned about faulty probe in the case.

May 8: Delhi Police submit case details in high court.

May 13: Munshi arrested at Kolkata airport while trying to leave India.

May 29: Delhi Police question another key witness, socialite Bina Ramani.

July 31: Court directs police to probe the case in time-bound manner.

Sep 7: Ramani arrested in Goa for the forgery.

Sep 8: Ramani remanded to police custody for four days.

Sep 16: Ramani granted bail in forgery case.

Oct 3: Court decides to hold daily hearing.

Oct 7: Vinod Sharma, Manu's father, quits ministerial post in Haryana.

Oct 9: Police submit investigation report to high court.

Oct 10: Police submit taped confession of Manu Sharma.

Oct 12: Prosecution admits court lapses in investigation.

Nov 1: Well-known criminal lawyer Ram Jethmalani decides to take up Manu Sharma's case.

Nov 4: Jethmalani seeks transfer of Jessica case to another court but denied relief.

Nov 9/10: Jethmalani argues in court that not Manu but a "tall Sikh gentleman" killed Jessica.

Nov 29: Court reserves judgement.

Dec 18: Court pronounces Manu Sharma guilty.
