A local court on Wednesday sentenced a former Jharkhand minister to one-year imprisonment in connection with a 15-year-old assault case.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Chandra Sekhar pronounced the judgement in the presence of Madhu Singh, a former minister and a JD(U) candidate contesting from Panki seat in the ongoing assembly elections in the state.

Singh was found guilty in an incident of assault in 1994.
