FORMER CABINET Minister Daya Ram Prajapati on Wednesday described Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav as Dr Ambedkar for the Prajapati community.

He said it was for the first time that the community had found a real well-wisher and added the CM would be honoured at the district headquarters on March 25.
Dayaram was here to participate in a Prajapati conference. He also addressed a series of public meetings at Kauriram in favour of SP candidate Rambhual Nishad.
He said it was for the first time that the Mulayam Singh Yadav-led State Government had granted Scheduled Caste status to 16 most backward classes in the State, including Prajapatis, Rajbhars, Kevats and Nishads. Prajapati said the State Cabinet had amended the UP Reservation Act 1994 and paved the way for reservation for these castes in jobs under the Scheduled Caste quota.
He described BSP chief and former Chief Minister Mayawati as an enemy of the Prajapati community as a writ was filed in the Allahabad High Court at her instance against the Cabinet decision, granting SC status to 16 castes.
Continuing his attack on the Mayawati, Prajapati said 3000 members of his community were booked under the Harijan Act during her tenure.

To a question, Prajapati said 20,000 voters of the community would support Rambhual Nishad in the by-election. He repeatedly said that the community could not forget the contribution of the Mulayam Singh Government to raising its status. He appealed to people to vote in favour of the SP candidate on March 25.
