"Both cited that they were MLAs as well as income tax payers and on this ground they should be granted B-class facilities as per the Punjab Jail Manual," said Vishal Garg Narwana, counsel for the MLAs.

In B-class facilities, a prisoner gets improved diet, wooden bed and is kept along with criminals availing of the same facilities.

They also moved an application for separate vehicle for transporting them from Ambala jail to Panchkula-based CBI court of Haryana. Here they cited that they were public figures and faced threats on the way.

Notices had been issued on both these applications. They had surrendered on Saturday along with Jain's personal assistant Rajinder Sharma and had been sent to judicial custody.

The CBI had, on August 8, filed a chargesheet against former transport minister Jain, former chief parliamentary secretary (CPS) Zile Ram Sharma and Rajinder Sharma for abetment to suicide of Karam Singh that had taken place on June 7, 2011, though the allegations were of murder.

Jain is an independent MLA, while Zile Ram is a Congress legislator. When the allegations surfaced, Jain was the transport minister, while Zile Ram was the CPS and both had to resign.
