THE EXHIBITION, ‘Israel: Archaeology from the air’, organised jointly by the Embassy of Israel and the State Archaeological Museum was inaugurated on Thursday on the museum premises at Shyamla Hills by Culture Minister Laxmikant Sharma and Ambassador of Israel to India David Danielli.
The exhibition includes photographs of most interesting archaeological sites of Israel seen from air. Principal Secretary, Culture Department, Abha Asthana was also present.
The Minister said that the archaeological heritage of any country is the proof of its ancient culture and the exhibition would help residents of the capital to know the rich cultural and historical heritage of Israel – a country that been through challenging times.
He expressed hope that exhibitions based on culture and heritage of other countries would be held in the City in future. The Israeli Ambassador said the Bhopal museum is one of the best he has ever seen.
The exhibition includes 25 photographs of air view of the sites and monuments of archaeological importance in Israel. The monuments depicted in the photographs belong to sixth to eighth century AD and have been conserved through scientific methods. Prominent among those are Masada Palace, ancient city of Ofel, ancient hamams, tombs, huge theatres and other archaeological monuments.
The exhibition will be open to public from November 24 to December 3 between 10.00 am and 5.00 pm.
