Experts discuss cure of gastric cancer

EMINENT MEDICAL experts highlighted various methods of treating gastric cancer and colorectal cancer at an advanced stage on the third day of the four-day International Integrated Meet of Cancer Societies at Banaras Hindu University here on Saturday.

EMINENT MEDICAL experts highlighted various methods of treating gastric cancer and colorectal cancer at an advanced stage on the third day of the four-day International Integrated Meet of Cancer Societies at Banaras Hindu University here on Saturday.

Experts of different countries like Nicolo Mozzilo of Italy, Sukamal Saha from Flint USA, Sunil Saini of Dehradun and Walley Temple of Canada focused on the way of treating cancer with different techniques. Dr Sukumal Saha, who had operated USA President Ronald Regan, explained the method to know how much incision was needed in the operation of long intestine.

Dr Paul Bolos, who is president of British Association of Surgical Oncology, deliberated on cancer in rectum. An expert team of Tata Memorial Hospital focused upon present condition of research in cancer in India. Dr Anil D’Cruz of Tata Memorial Hospital assisted both the teams.

Dr Rajendra Badwe of Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, commented upon new molecule ‘Herceptin’ which is very useful in some patients of breast cancer.

Earlier, on Friday evening, Admiral VK Singh, director general of AFMS, inaugurated the four-day international meet. Admiral Singh expressed his serious concern over the growing number of cancer patients in country.
