A GROUP of 20 exporters dealing in hardware products (largely brassware) have jointly moved a proposal with the State government for setting up a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at villages Bhartari, Hayatpur Vajhedha and Varoth Chhajmal of Aligarh district.
These exporters have got a company registered by the name of M/s Aligarh Industrial Park Pvt Ltd, for setting up the SEZ near the Aligarh-Delhi road (GT Road) spread over 132.646 hectares of land in the district. The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) UP State Chapter is supporting the SEZ project by getting the necessary 'No Objection Certificates' (NOCs) issued from the State government.
Ashok Drona, resident director, PHDCCI (UP State) told Hindustan Times here that the land for the SEZ was being proposed to be acquired by the UPSIDC for handing it over to the M/s Aligarh Industrial Park Pvt Ltd, for developing the facility.
As per rules notified by the Union government pertaining to the SEZ Act, the State government would be required to certify while also recommend the SEZ proposal to the Union government for finding out whether the area proposed for development of the facility fell under “Reserved” or “Ecologically Fragile” area, official sources here said.
“PICUP had been appointed as the nodal agency by the State government for examining the proposals for SEZs in the State pending approval by the Union government as per the rules and guidelines of SEZ Act 2005”, sources said.
