Eyes on 2010, cops in five UP districts to get Rs 40-crore makeover

Keeping in view the 2010 commonwealth games, the ADGP gives a green signal to the Noida police modernisation plan, reports Kapil Datta.

The Additional Director General of Police gave a green signal to the Noida police modernisation plan at a meeting held at the Noida Police control Room on Wednesday. Ghaziabad and three other districts in the NCR region too get similar facilities under the plan. Senior Superintendent of Police, A Satish Ganesh said, “Keeping in view the 2010 commonwealth games the ADGP SP Srivastava discussed the police modernisation plan for five districts of UP falling under NCR. My presentation highlighted the core issues, which was accepted by him”.

“Rs 40 crore has been sanctioned for the modernisation plan for atleast 5 districts. Out of this Rs 12 crore is for Noida, Rs 10 crore for Ghaziabad and the remaining 18 crore for three other districts,” said Ganesh. The plan will take place keeping in mind four core areas. The first will be to improve the infrastructure. Following this a face lift will be given to the existing infrastructure and a new infrastructure plan including a 70 room transit hostel for non gazetted officers, a press & media briefing room, 50 police assistance booths will be developed. A 24 hour power back up plan along with a state of the art reception area at all police stations is being included.
