An eyewitness to the manhandling of Professor HS Sabharwal during a college election resulting in his death on Friday claimed that he was being "pressurised" to withdraw his statement to the police that led to the arrest of two top ABVP leaders.
The FIR on Sabharwal's death was filed on the basis of a complaint by Komal Singh Sengar, a peon at the Madhav college where the two ABVP leaders Shashiranjan Akela and Vimal Tomar were shown by TV channels threatening another professor ML Nath in connection with a cancelled students' union polls on August 26.
"I can see my death before my eyes," Sengar told to a news channel. "I have been told not to reveal anything to anybody. Otherwise my family and I will be killed," Sengar said.
He claimed that he was also offered money to marry off his daughters, (in return for retracting his statement).
No security has been provided to him and his family, he said. "I have been hiding here and there," he said.
Akela and Tomar, president and secretary respectively of the state unit of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, were on Thursday arrested and later remanded to police custody till September 2 by a judicial magistrate's court.

{{/usCountry}}They had surrendered to police in connection with the alleged manhandling of professor Nath and formally arrested by the CID for the murder of HS Sabharwal, who died shortly after the attack by students.
Narrating the sequence of events, Sengar claimed that a group of 15-20 people, including Tomar came up to the gate of the college and thrashed Sabharwal at the behest of Akela.
