With less that two days for Devendra Fadnavis to be sworn in chief minister, and no signs of a call-up from the BJP, the Shiv Sena is meeting on Thursday to take stock of the political situation.

The meeting of senior leaders is basically to decide whether the Shiv Sena should swallow pride and go with the number of ministerial berths offered to them by the BJP.

The Sena has been seeking one-third of the total number of ministers and plum postings , while the BJP wanted Uddhav Thackeray's party to join the government without any preconditions.

But it won't be easy for the Sena to snap its ties entirely with the BJP, as its MP Anant Geete is a union minister, and the party runs several municipalities in Maharashtra, including Mumbai with the support of its former ally.

On Tuesday BJP’s in-charge of Maharashtra JP Nadda said that his party desired that the Sena should be part of the new government and that the talks would soon yield "good results."

But sources said that would happen only if the Sena completely surrenders to the terms set by its former ally and stop making any demands.
