Even ten years of imprisonment and a hefty fine did not act as a deterrent to the family of Renu, a notorious drug dealer, who continued with their family business without any fear.

It was only when Renu came to deliver heroine at Chanchal Park area on Nangloi-Najafgarh road, that the police nabbed her with 510 grams of the said drug.

The police had laid a trap to nab Renu on getting a tip-off. She was spotted at Chanchal Park T point and after recovering drugs from her, she was promptly taken into custody. She has been arrested under the NDPS act.

Renu confessed before the police that not only she but also almost her entire family including her husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister and her husband were indulged in the narcotic trade.

Renu disclosed that her mother-in-law was arrested earlier by Delhi police in 1999 under the same charge and was sentenced to 10-years rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 1 lakh.

Similarly, in 2002, her husband Gitto was arrested for indulging in drug peddling. He too had been awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment along with Rs 60,000 fine.

In the same year, her sister's husband Rakesh was arrested under the NDPS act and was given a rigorous imprisonment of five years with Rs 30,000 fine.

Police informed that despite such harsh convictions, the family members continued to carry on with the drug trade. Her father-in-law Arvind and her brother-in-law Deepak as well as one of her sisters are undergoing trial for drug peddling.
