The farmers enquired about the profit potential of growing these plants compared to other crops.
Scientists informed them that these plants could be grown over ridges or in between them depending on the nature of the crop sown along with them.
Farmers also got to know about the nearly one hundred varieties of medicinal plants, displayed in the section, identified and developed at the university farms.
Majority of the farmers showed interest in growing Peeli-Chameli, Junglee Piyaz, Chandramool, Latjeera, Kush, Doob, Satavar, Kali Moosali Shami and Sarpghandha.
These medicinal plants are said to have high medicinal value and help in treatment of ailments like toothache, abdominal and bile disorders, cough and other serious diseases. Their demand within and outside the medicine market too is good, as these are used in manufacturing of all types of medicines.
Farmers also were keen to know about the plants which could be grown on infertile land and with minimum investment.
Later, several eminent agro-scientists and successful farmers addressed a technical session organised on the occasion.
