Fastest lap, podium for Khushlani at Silverstone

Nine Indian drivers have taken part in the JK Racing Series since its inception last year, after the Formula BMW Pacific series was taken over by JK Tyre.

Even before his second-place finish at Round Four of the series at the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit, Hyderabad's Akhil Khushlani had recorded the best finish out of those nine drivers.

This included beating the much-fancied Volkswagen Polo-R Cup champion Vishnu Prasad, when the series was a supporting event at last year's Indian Grand Prix.

However, it took a problem with Aditya Patel's visa application for Khushlani to be called up to make sure that the series has something in the way of an Indian flavour to it.

Now after his performance in the second race of the Silverstone round, which included setting the race's fastest lap, one wonders if Khushlani will become a regular participant in the series.

Feeling confident
"It feels good. I feel confident now, especially after a bad practice and not such a great qualifying," said Khushlani. "It feels nice to be back on the podium. I am happy with myself because I had a year's gap and I am back on the pace with the fastest lap and going from sixth to second. I can't ask for anything more."

The final two rounds of the series will be held at the Buddh International Circuit, the first of which will be the support event for the Indian Grand Prix.
