Fearing arrest in a bribery case, a policeman allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service pistol here, police said on Friday.

The incident took place yesterday after a pharmacy owner was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau from Khuskheda town for taking a bribe of Rs 1.20 lakh allegedly on behalf of Tapukada Station House Officer Mannu Singh, they said.

Apprehending arrest, Singh shot himself at his government quarters near Bhiwari area. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injury today, SP Mahesh Goyal said.
