The BMC administration recently issued orders to zonal offices telling that house owners having proper water harvesting device should be given one-time rebate of six per cent in property tax. The rebate facility is extended for only one time in the year of device installment. The rebate would not given to those who installed the device earlier.

According to information, the applicant will have to apply to take the benefit of the rebate. Upon receiving application, the BMC officials will do physical verification of the device.

However, the BMC officials do not find it an encouraging rebate offer for building owners. “The device costs anywhere between Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 depending on the size of building. The six per cent rebate will not be an attractive offer for citizens,” said a BMC zonal officer.
