The Union minister of state of Railways, Adhir Chowdhury has been named in an FIR registered on Friday following Thursday’s vandalism at the DM’s office. The police, however, has not arrested anyone so far.

State AG quits

Anindya Mitra has resigned as the West Bengal’s advocate general (AG) on Friday. Mitra has been replaced by Bimal Chaterjee, who will take charge on February 11.

Though the West Bengal government did not give any reason for replacing Mitra, a majority of lawyers at Calcutta high court felt that the state’s setback in important cases during last 19 months might be the reason for Mitra’s resignation.
