“We will put up this matter with higher authorities in Bhopal,” district election observer Suresh Yadav said when contacted. Each page of newly prepared photo voter list contains nine names of the voters along with their photo and detail about their address, age and sex.

Election Commission has directed Chief Electoral Officer of all states in the country to prepare photo electoral roll by March 2008.

The next Lok Sabha, Vidhan Sabha, civic and panchayat elections will be held on the basis of photo electoral roll.

Indore district, has 16.82 lakh registered voters out of which only 9.45 lakh voters have photo identity cards. Their photo identity cards were prepared between 1995-1997 and in 2003. The photos of voters were scanned from their identity cards and pasted against their name in the photo electoral roll prepared by software firm hired by State government.

The photo cards of remaining voters will be made by another firm to be hired by MP State Electronics Development Corporation, which is the nodal agency for preparing photo identity cards in the State.

The election office for assembly segment one and three is in room number 35 at tehsil office while that of constituency four and five are located in room number 58 near Land Records office. Application of voters from assembly two will be received at Land Records office.
