At least five people were killed and six others injured when an overloaded taxi collided head on with a truck in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, local police said on Sunday.

The taxi carrying eight people crashed head on into a small truck travelling in the opposite direction on Saturday night when the driver tried to overtake on the Xinjiang-Tibet Road.
The taxi driver and four passengers were killed instantly, while the remaining three, together with three people from the truck, were taken to a hospital in Yecheng County, Xinhua news agency reported.
