Addressing mediapersons on Monday, Singh said the advisory committee has been formed for women and children’s rights and regularisation of matters related to the child adoption.
The committee would ensure that the basic needs of an orphan, widow and dependent women were fulfilled.
The state government has also made a provision for spending one-third of the total State budget on child and women welfare schemes.
“This gender budgeting system of the State government has also been adopted by the Congress-led UPA government,” she claimed.
Singh said the government also sanctioned a fund of Rs 6.16 lakh to provide annual pension of Rs 150 to widows and their children. Earlier only Rs 125 was given as monthly pension to widows.
The construction of 786 Anganwadi centres had been completed and about 976 handpumps had been installed at these centres. In the past there were only 82 food and child development schemes. But today the government has launched 262 new schemes for the all-round development of children.
“The government has also approved 21 new child development projects. Under the Girls’ Prosperity Scheme 49, 804 girls were educated and trained by the government,” she said.
Singh said, “The government is also providing free education to girls upto intermediate. Last year about one lakh girls were benefited under the Kanyadhan Yojna,” she added.
