Food-for-patients amount hiked

IN A significant decision, the State Cabinet today approved hiking the amount given for food for patients undergoing treatment at Government hospitals from Rs 8 per day to Rs 20.

IN A significant decision, the State Cabinet today approved hiking the amount given for food for patients undergoing treatment at Government hospitals from Rs 8 per day to Rs 20.

The hike on food for indoor patients has been effected after 23 years. It will cause additional expenditure of Rs 3 lakh daily.

The Cabinet also decided to allot 100-acre land for Pt Dwarka Prasad Mishra Indian Institute of Information Technology Design & Mechanics (IIIT-D&M), Jabalpur. Union HRD Minister Arjun Singh had inaugurated the institute in Jabalpur last year, which is currently being run from the Government Engineering College.

The Cabinet, which briefly met here this morning, further approved detailed memorandum to be enclosed with the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) report for the year 2004-05. Now, it will be tabled in the State Assembly.

The Cabinet further decided to accord approval to Government Guarantee of Rs 2073.17 lakh given in favour of HUDCO and HDFC for MP Housing Board's projects. It also decided disbursement of wages and allowances to officials and employees of Forest Department through treasury instead of banks, as the system exists now.
