Lacking a stand behind one of the goals, third-division Rayo's Teresa Rivero stadium stands close to several blocks from where the food was thrown.

"Nothing like this has ever happened to me on a soccer field," Cobeno was quoted as saying by sports daily Marca today. "I was amazed. The lady of the house must have emptied her larder."

Cobeno, who previously played for Rayo, informed the referee but was told nothing could be done as the bombardment came from beyond the stadium.

"I know which flat it was. It's on the fourth floor because I spent a lot of time there," Marca quoted the goalkeeper as saying.

Rayo and Sevilla drew 0-0 in the fifth-round first leg of Spain's knockout competition.
