Mulayam Govt plans to send homegrown techies abroad by December
AFTER DOLING out unemployment allowance, the State Government is all set to send trained, unemployed youths to Gulf countries for jobs.
Though the scheme involves risk, the government has prepared ground for launching this drive under the Human Resources Export scheme, prevalent in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
“I have studied the issue in depth and formulated a policy for ITI candidates who pass out from government institutes,” vice-chairman State Apprentice Council Dr CP Rai told reporters here, adding, the file had been sent for approval to Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav.
“Our ITIs, numbering 120 in Uttar Pradesh, produce 40,000 trained candidates annually, out of which 19,000 are provided chance for apprenticeship,” he said, adding, out of these 19,000 candidates, 80 per cent eke out a living through self employment.
He said under the scheme, the State Government would take responsibility of preparing passports, adjusting them suitably outside the country or within India against a meagre fee.
“We have identified the countries in the Middle East as also in different States of India where our ITI-trained could easily be accomodated,” he informed, adding, the government was eager to launch the scheme as early as possible so that the first batch could be sent out of the country for jobs by December.

{{/usCountry}}In order to ensure the scheme worked out, he informed that a separate cell would be formed in employment offices to enroll technicians of ITIs who wish to go abroad for jobs. “The Human Resources Export would attract a large number of trained ITI candidates as it would guarantee that they are not cheated as in the case of private placement agencies,” he added.
