Former CBI chief-led panel may investigate Sohrabuddin killing

The Supreme Court indicated it would hand over further investigation into the staged killings of Sohrabuddin Sheikh, his wife Kausar Bi and friend Tulsiram Prajapati by the Gujarat police to a special investigation panel headed by former CBI director R.K. Raghavan.

The Supreme Court on Monday indicated it would hand over further investigation into the staged killings of Sohrabuddin Sheikh, his wife Kausar Bi and friend Tulsiram Prajapati by the Gujarat police to a special investigation panel headed by former Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) director R.K. Raghavan.

A bench of Justice Tarun Chatterjee and Justice Aftab Alam also decided to give an ad hoc compensation to Sheikh's brother Rubabuddin Sheikh for the killings committed by the state police.

The court will take a final decision on these issues next week.
