The motorcycle borne attackers shot 31-year-old Sudarsan Parida in Aska town, about 200 km from Bhubaneswar on Sunday night. The victim was sitting on a roadside kerb with some of his friends, a police official said.

While Sudarsan, son of former minister Raghaba Parida, died on his way to hospital, four of his friends were undergoing treatment for injuries.

Personal rivalry may be the reason for the killing, the official added.
