Senior Congress leader and former Rajya Sabha MP from Jammu and Kashmir Ghulam Nabi Untoo died of old age on Saturday night, official sources said on Sunday.
Untoo (80), who was a member of the Upper House of Parliament from November 11, 1966 to November 10, 1972 breathed his last at his residence in Baramulla, the sources said in Srinagar.
The body of the Congress leader, who was a close lieutenant of former Chief Minister Ghulam Mohammad Sadiq, was laid to rest today with hundreds of people attending his funeral.
A veteran freedom fighter, Ghulam Nabi Lone (78), died this morning in Soura Medical Institute here due to cardiac failure, the sources said.
Lone, a resident of Sangrama-Sopore area of Baramulla district, was admitted to the hospital a few days ago after he complained of chest pain, the sources said.
His body was taken to his home town for burial, the sources said.
