Speaking at the ceremony at PCDA (Pensions), Mishra said that he was extremely happy to lay the foundation stone of DPTI as the idea for the institute had been initiated during his tenure as PCDA (Pensions) in 2002. He also said that the budget for Defence Pension was Rs 13,200 crore, which was approximately 50 per cent of the total expenditure of the Central Government on pensions. He also indicated that through steps like one rank one pension, many benefits were being passed on to ex-servicemen. In this respect, the DPTI would be very useful in imparting training to the various agencies related with disbursement of defence pensions.
Earlier, CDA Sunil Mathur welcomed VK Mishra, FA (DS) TC Joshi, IDAS and other assembled guests. He outlined the importance of the institute and the help it would render to agencies involved in the pension sanction and disbursement process. Also present on the occasion were Sushma Misra, J Natarajan, Pr CDA, KN Rai, Chief Executive Civil Works and Estate, Ajay Singh, chief construction engineer and other senior military and Air Force officers.
The Defence Pension Training Institute, aimed at imparting training on defence pension matters, will be the only such institute in the country. Various training courses for pension disbursement agencies, record offices, treasury offices, DPDOs, MES establishments etc will be conducted in DPTI to enable them to process pension claims efficiently and accurately so that more 22 lakh defence pensioners are benefited.
