What does it take to start a successful gaming company in India?
As with all start-ups, you need passion. Ideally, a gaming company should focus on creating original gaming IP on one or multiple gaming platforms. The most popular platforms are cellphones, computers, the Web and consoles. Since the industry is in its early stages in India, there is a lot of scope for start-ups to succeed.

What are the growth and salary prospects in the Indian gaming industry?
As the industry is relatively new here, there is an acute shortage of quality manpower. This makes the salary and growth prospects way above normal. It's not uncommon to see someone with three years' experience in a managerial position. That doesn't happen in other industries.

If someone has worked in an Indian gaming company, what are his options abroad?
There are a lot of international companies setting up development bases in India and looking to hire local talent. The work will involve travelling and the prospects for someone in the space are very bright.

What qualities do you look for when hiring?
A passion for gaming, the drive to do something new and a positive attitude are considered invaluable at Indiagames. For us, qualifications don't matter. It's the results that count.
