Gang of robbers busted

THE CITY police on Thursday claimed to have busted a gang of robbers and recovered six cell phones from them. The gang allegedly committed robberies in Shahpura, Habibganj and adjoining localities.

THE CITY police on Thursday claimed to have busted a gang of robbers and recovered six cell phones from them. The gang allegedly committed robberies in Shahpura, Habibganj and adjoining localities.

The gang members, Mukesh Chakre, 20, a resident of Gulmohar Colony, Mukesh Bhansare, 24, a resident of Bharat Nagar, Mahesh Bharse, 22, a resident of Indira Nagar and Sachin, 20, a resident of Saraswati Nagar, were arrested. Chakre is the gang leader, police said.

The accused recently robbed Hariom Mewade, the salesman of a telecom company in Shahpura. Mewade was carrying Rs 16,500 cash and a cell phone on person.

He was also injured in the incident. The gang also looted handbags and cell phones in other localities. During interrogation, the gang allegedly confessed to robbing a girl, Shivani Shrivastava, of two cell phones near Arera Palace
Hotel on September 21 and snatching a cell phone of one, Rahul Tapadia, near Lalghati on June 10.

The MP Nagar police also arrested two youths, Sanju and Gautam, both residents of Bhim Nagar, for robbing a youth of his cell phone and Rs 300 cash.

The accused had robbed Anand Shendey, a native of Chhindwara, near Chinar Park at knifepoint. The two allegedly confessed to their involvement in the robbery, police said.
