POLICE BUSTED an inter-state gang selling fake certificates and mark sheets of Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, here on Thursday.

Police arrested three members of the gang and recovered 84 certificates and mark sheets of high school from years 1972 to 2005. The cops said the fake testimonials were just as good as original.

The arrested persons have been identified as Rajesh Kumar (Gorakhpur), Akram (Allahabad) and Mahendra (Varanasi). The members also gave vital information about the other gang members.

Acting on a tip off that some suspected persons were sitting in a restaurant at Chaukaghat area under the Jaitpura police station, in charge, Saraiya police outpost, Rajesh Kumar Singh along with constables raided the place.

Sensing trouble, these three youths made an abortive attempt to flee. However, they were nabbed. During a search of their belongings, 52 fake certificates of high school and 32 mark sheets were recovered. Thereafter, they were taken in for interrogation.

The youths told the police they had been selling fake mark sheets of BA, MA, B Ped, M Ped and technical courses to the needy who wanted to take jobs through unfair means. Many parents also wanted fake certificates of high school and intermediate as they wanted to show prospective grooms that their daughters were well educated.
