“I was aiming for a national record, but because of the hot and humid conditions it was difficult,” said an elated Gayatry, who garnered 1004 points.
Delhi athletes also performed well on the final day. Thrower Arjun hurled the disc to a distance of 50.99m to win the first gold, Ajay clocked 1:53.74s in 800m to fetch the second gold, while Arun Kumar collected the third gold for the side in javelin, clearing 68.14m.
Meanwhile, Haryana with eight gold, 10 silver and five bronze emerged the overall champions.
