Gehlot ready to talk to independents
The Rajasthan CM did not rule out taking support of independents and smaller parties, if need be, to form government.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday did not rule out taking support of independents and smaller parties, if need be, to form government saying, there was no harm in talking to them.
Though trends from 184 out of 200 seats in the state showed BJP was ahead in 100, Congress in 64 and others in 20, Gehlot told NDTV he was still hopeful that Congress would win and get "clear majority".
Asked if there could be a tie up with independents, rebels or candidates of smaller parties, who were leading in 20 seats, he said there was no harm in talking to them.
He, however, said that his party would get majority on its own and there has been no formal talk with any one of them.
To a question whether he would seek BSP's support, he said whoever wanted to support Congress would be welcome. "But, it is for the Congress high command to decide," he said.
Asked while his party's performance had gone down, he said there could be local factors and some shortcomings here and there. But it would be analysed at a later date.
