?Gender and museum? will help showcase women?s contribution

THE TWO-DAY symposium on ‘gender and museum’ organised under – Shashwati, the programme based on women and cultural heritage – concluded on Monday at the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (IGRMS).

At the concluding function, lauded holding of the symposium, Prof Shalina Mehta of Punjab University said that it helped in bringing forth such intangible contribution by women that would help in showcasing their role in society, particularly in museums.

She also said the IGRMS proved to be best venue for the discussion on this issue. Earlier in the day, Dr Praveena Kodoth of Bangalore, Indira Mukherjee of New Delhi, Dr Savita Raje of Bhopal and Shakmacha Singh of the IGRMS presented paper on various aspects.

Dr Savita Raje, assistant professor of Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) presented a research paper on gender identity and spoke about the role of Begums of Bhopal in providing exquisite architecture to the city.
