Scottish actor Gerard Butler is glad that he failed as a lawyer - because he would never have become a Hollywood star.

However, the star stopped pursuing law and took up acting after he was sacked just before completing his training contract.

"I was one week away from qualifying as a lawyer, and I was fired... That was the worst day of my life, now it's the best day of my life," Contactmusic quoted Butler as telling Us magazine.
