The administration had earlier received a government order and representations from various parents' bodies, pointing at the affect of mobile towers on the health of children, additional district magistrate (City), Sunil Kumar Srivastava told HT.

"Several parents have raised their objections. This is against norms because electromagnetic fields result in acute memory loss and affect the overall mental health of the child," said Srivastava.

The administration has written to the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) to make a list of such schools and take action against them. Some areas like Pratap Vihar, Sahibabad and Shalimar Garden have already been surveyed with the help of police officials. These schools are earning more than 2 to 3 lakh rupees annually as rent, officials said.

"Over 100 such towers have been installed on the school premises or at adjoining places. In one instance, four mobile towers have been installed at one school in Pratap Vihar. We have written to the GDA to take action and remove such towers," said Srivastava.
