Municipal officials said against a demand of nearly 504MLD of water, only 396MLD is being supplied to the city.

Areas such as Shalimar Garden, Rajendra Nagar are the worst sufferers — they are getting only an hour of water supply every alternate day. Lajpat Nagar and DLF Colony get one hour of water supply each day.

“Residents are forced to use submersibles, pumps and other measures,” said Mithlesh Sharma, Lajpat Nagar resident.

Areas such as Indirpuram, Kaushambi, Vaishali, Vasundhara and Delta-colonies are dependent on supplies from Pratap Vihar plant which can supply only 73MLD of water.

“Boring water is used in homes and we have to install RO systems to filter it from impurities,” said SK Maheshwari from Delta colonies.
