The Centre had finalised the decision to allot a flat to the victim’s family last month. The family, which had opted for a house close to their present residence, has been allotted a two-bedroom, middle income group flat of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in Sector 17, Dwarka.

The flat, which costs around Rs. 50 lakh, has been allotted from the ‘vacant pool’ of the DDA. The cost of the house would be borne by the Delhi government.

“The allotment letter of the flat is ready and other formalities have been completed too. The flat would be handed over to the family within the next few days,” said a senior DDA official, who didn’t wish to be named.

“We were shown different flats in Dwarka and had finalised one of them. We’ve been told that all the necessary paperwork is now complete,” said the victim’s father.
